Short-Term AI Fixes Could Be Your Long-Term Disaster

02:22

Do you understand the problem or are you just good at solving it? Now one could say that if you're able to solve a problem then you inherently understand it and I think that that is true but there are levels to understanding. A short-term solution could work well but then once you hit medium or long-term that solution may no longer be valid or may actually cause more harm than the original problem.

I think that using AI tools without critical thinking capabilities or without understanding the problem through a critical lens can lead to many people making, whether that's a short-term or long-term solution doesn't matter, but maybe not making the right decision to address the problem holistically. A solution could be good in the short or long term but could be only good for certain aspects and then not good for other aspects. That's what I mean by a holistic understanding of the problem.

So critical thinking is critical in making sure that when the means of execution with AI tools become easier to access and cheaper to use, the true value add is the ability to understand the problem. Understand the why deeper than just surface level, really understand not just deeper but wide understanding. How does each level of depth impact the other lateral sides of the problem?

Then once that evaluation is done, making a decision that is best for as many layers of depth or the most important layers of depth and the most important angles and sides.
